Online Retailers

December 19th, 2009 · 2 Comments · Just-Eat, Uncategorized

I read an interesting article this morning on the compliance of online companies in relation to online payments and goods.  It was not related to our site and concept but it got me thinking! As the market place and online environment develops there will be new protocols and consumer laws and naturally at Just-Eat.co.uk we will always comply with them.

The challenge for all online retailers is that the same straight forward operational rules don’t always apply as if they would to a high st store. For example if you buy a takeaway on just-eat we facilitate the order & in many cases the payment, we don’t make and deliver the food that is our partner restaurants. We do and will take total responsibility for all the orders placed on our site, if something goes wrong we will do our best to rectify it with the customer and restaurant. Just let us know by phone, mail or live chat!

Our commitment to all our customers goes well beyond any basic compliance rules. We also see ourselves as a friend and we want to help whenever there is a issue in the order process.  Of course things can happen, snow comes and restaurants have delivery issues, delivery vehicles break down and when those rare events do happen you can be assured that if you contact us we will always do all we can to help rectify the issue.

Have a great weekend and enjoy your takeaways! :-)

    Hi David,

Nice to see you maintain a blog. After the appalling experience in using just eat, I appreciate the opportunity to let you know that my first (attempted) purchase through the site will be my last, as you have managed to lose my order, and leave my guests hungry. Compounded by unavailable chat operators and a long wait on the phone to get my refund.

I think less time blogging, and more keeping your house in order might be required.

Starving, not happy and the delivering restaurant duly informed,

    Rik

Hi Rik, firstly i am very sorry to hear of your experience in using just-eat. This is not the experience I or any of the UK team of just-eat want you to have! We invest a great deal of time and money in having a UK based call centre and support centre so rest assured i will be following your comment up and if you could mail me your order number or member details i will see that we come back to you.

In terms of the blog it is something i maintain in my personal time, I guess sometimes in life you are damned if you do and damned if you don’t!

    Best Regards

    David
