It has been a very busy two weeks since my last update. Since then we now have another sales rep in Ottawa, and we also now have a sales director in the form of Rocco.

Rocco is going to be an amazing asset to just-eat canada and Just-Eat as a whole! He’s a cool, laid back guy and has a very strong sales background.

On his first day we went about together doing cold calling, he had a guy he knew who owns a restaurant. We visited and Rocco stared pitching. After about two sentences, the owner of this restaurant said ‘Rocco, sorry to interrupt, but you have always been good to us, if you tell me this is good, we will have it’ That for me was so cool, and so respectful. He is someone I am really excited about working for and learning from.

Ottawa was officially launched this week! The first sale was achieved on Thursday so we are all very excited to see how fast that grows! We are also going to be moving further west next, and probably another sales rep (bringing the total to 4 sales reps, 1 SD and 5 CC guys)

So when I last wrote (2 weeks ago) we were submerged in a foot or so of snow! Well.. yesterday it was 22C. Yep! 22! So to confirm it went from -20 to +20 in under 8 days! Madness. I was saying what a hassle it is trying to work in the snow, now im finding it hard to work in the sun, (and its only going to get hotter) (the average day here is going to be 27C)!!! When its so warm, all you want to do is hit the bar patios! There’s just no pleasing me ;) Its great fun though in fairness. Walking around, selling and getting a sun tan all at the same time. 14 sales in the last 2 weeks. A breakdown of 6 the week before and 8 last week.  (Im starting to get into a good swing now) The MD here is great as well because although the numbers are the most important thing, he’s always happy to take time to give some advice, try and help you improve and always happy to teach you something new. A quality that Rocco has as well. Im trying to learn about all the other processes at the moment. Last week one of the CC guys phoned in sick so i offered my services as a CC agent for the night, that was an experience! But good fun…

The benefits of being in such a new market is you get to see everything! In the UK it was always easy to fall into the trap of feeling like working for a ‘company’, although a very close and friendly one! Canada you very much know that everything you do is vital. Everyday counts and if you don’t sell one day then you know that it will effect the growth of the company. Every sale counts. It gives you a different type of motivation. My main motivation has always been the £££ and the competition. Now my motivation is knowing that when I have to leave here, I will have made a huge impact on Canada and have helped it to the position of one of the leading markets.
