So it’s been a while since my last update/ Blog….
We done our bitz up in Ottawa it went well, lessons were learnt on how to do it better next time. But we have almost 50 restaurants there now, and are getting few orders as well
Processes are now finally being put into place in Canada, reporting procedures, sales expectations, a commission structure, best practices, management structure. All of these are adjustments which were needed for Canada with some urgency.
Finally the customer care team are now aloud to change hours and delivery charges instead of them being put off line and waiting for a sales rep to change them.
Mostly the changes are positive, needed and make sure everyone is more productive, but there have been some negative ones also, the main change was probably the hardest one to swallow. A fellow team member being let go. She started for the company the day after I arrived in Canada. To be sacked at a time like that, as the person doing it must be one of the worst things for anyone to have to do, I no I would not heave wanted to be the person doing it. But we all face difficult challenges everyday and as a manger I guess that is one of the hardest.
More positively though, it just goes to show how good a company Just-Eat normally is and what high standards we all have and expect from the company. If a sales guy is struggling in the UK office (and I speak from experience) Others rally round, give advise, let you shadow them, keep you motivated and that is such a great team spirit to have! (Thanks Jason Whale)
So myself, I’ve had one of my poorest months to date. I have not yet worked out why but I have the opportunity to swing it around in the next week and a half. I’m on 6 sales for the month!
Week one- 8 -2 cancellations
Week two- 0 (I was taken out of the field to concentrate solely on issues, something Corey had been doing to date)
Week 3- 0 sales and no excuses. Just me not being on form
If I had to really pinpoint the dry up in sales for me I would have to say it was the loss of my pipeline. 3 weeks away meant I was basically restarting. Granted I should have done 5 of the bat last week and I didn’t and for this there is no excuse and I only have my self to blame. But it’s a number I know I will turn around next week. It’s like a footballer who’s been out a while, although desperate to score, to much pressure on yourself results in chances being put high and wide. One thing I was told some months back and still remember to date is ‘remember what you enjoy about the company, don’t go out solely to sell, go out to have a laugh and a joke with restaurant owners, and the sales will follow’ That is something I intend to go and do next week. You’re only as good as your last sales week. So at the moment I’m the poorest sales guy in JE. Something needs to be done about that! I look forward to being one of the top performers again next week.
